My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Business: Seeking Insights from Seasoned Professionals

My wife is on the verge of embarking on an exciting new chapter—starting her own freelance Bookkeeping business. With nearly two decades of experience in the Accounting and Bookkeeping realm, she is prepared to leave the corporate world behind and establish her own path.

Her impressive history includes roles such as staff accountant and Accounting supervisor, where she managed payroll for more than 800 employees at a prominent cable company. Additionally, she’s worked as an office manager and bookkeeper in various industries, including real estate development, construction, and automotive services.

Equipped with extensive knowledge of QuickBooks and currently finalizing a suite of relevant certifications, she is also in the process of launching her professional website. With an engagement letter drafted and an updated resume in hand, she’s ready to take the next steps toward attracting clients.

While her services will not include tax preparation and she is not a CPA or EA, she aims to support small to mid-sized businesses and startups by providing cost-effective bookkeeping solutions. She excels at organizing disorganized financial records, running profit and loss statements, preparing balance sheets, and identifying areas for cost savings—all while prioritizing automation for efficiency.

Our initial strategy involves reaching out to local CPA firms, but we’re pondering the best approach to introduce her services. Would it be more effective to connect via email, phone, or by visiting in person? Additionally, any insights you might have on making a memorable first impression would be invaluable.

We intend to operate on an hourly billing model and welcome any broader suggestions for client acquisition or general business tips.

Thank you for your support as we embark on this journey!
