Navigating the Freelance Bookkeeping Landscape: Seeking Insights from Seasoned Professionals
As my wife embarks on an exciting new journey into freelance Bookkeeping, we are eager to tap into the knowledge and experience of industry veterans. After 15-20 years in Accounting and Bookkeeping, she is ready to leverage her extensive background and offer her services independently.
Her professional history is impressive, spanning roles such as a staff accountant and Accounting supervisor, where she managed payroll for over 800 employees at a cable company. Additionally, her experience includes positions as an office manager and bookkeeper for a real estate developer, a construction firm, a painting company, and an auto repair shop, providing her with a well-rounded understanding of diverse business needs.
Currently, she is finalizing her website and has completed several QuickBooks certifications to enhance her skill set. An updated resume and engagement letter are also in place, positioning her well to attract potential clients.
While she will not be providing tax services, as she is neither a CPA nor an EA, her target clientele consists of small to mid-sized businesses and emerging entrepreneurs. She aims to offer cost-effective bookkeeping solutions, focusing on tasks like organizing untidy financial records, preparing profit and loss statements, balancing sheets, and identifying areas where clients can reduce expenses. Moreover, she prioritizes implementing automation to improve efficiency in her workflows.
Our initial strategy involves reaching out to local CPA firms to explore potential collaborations. We are curious about the best approach to introduce her services. Should she initiate contact via email, phone calls, or in-person visits? Any advice on how to make a memorable first impression would be immensely helpful.
Additionally, we welcome any insights or strategies for acquiring clients in this competitive field.
Thank you in advance for your contributions as we navigate this new chapter in her professional life!
