My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Embarking on a New Freelance Journey: Seeking Advice for Bookkeeping Success

With years of experience under her belt, my wife is gearing up to launch her own freelance Bookkeeping business. After nearly two decades in the Accounting and Bookkeeping field, she has acquired a wealth of knowledge and skills that uniquely position her for this exciting new chapter.

Her impressive background includes roles as a staff accountant and supervisor, where she managed payroll for over 800 employees at a cable company. Additionally, she has served as an office manager and bookkeeper for various industries, including real estate development, construction, and auto repair. This diverse experience gives her a comprehensive understanding of different business needs.

Currently, she is finalizing her setup with extensive training in QuickBooks and completing all available certifications through the platform. With her website nearly finished, an engagement letter prepared, and an updated resume at the ready, she is on the brink of starting her marketing efforts to attract clients.

It’s important to note that she intends to focus on serving small to mid-sized and newer businesses, recognizing the demand for cost-effective bookkeeping solutions. Not offering tax services and without CPA or EA credentials, she aims to provide valuable services such as cleaning up disorganized books, generating profit and loss statements, creating balance sheets, and advising clients on cost-cutting strategies. Additionally, she’s keen on incorporating automation into her processes to improve efficiency.

Our initial strategy is to reach out to local CPA firms for potential collaboration. I’m looking for insights on the best approach to introduce her services—should we opt for email, phone calls, or even face-to-face visits? Furthermore, any tips on how to make a stellar first impression would be greatly appreciated.

We plan to implement an hourly billing structure and are open to any other tips for landing clients or general advice on building a successful freelance bookkeeping business.

Thank you for your support as we take this leap into entrepreneurship!
