My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Business: Seeking Expert Guidance

Starting a new chapter in her professional journey, my wife is on the brink of launching her freelance Bookkeeping practice. After dedicating nearly 20 years to the field of Accounting and Bookkeeping, she has made the bold decision to leave behind traditional employment in search of greater independence and opportunity.

Her diverse background encompasses critical roles such as staff accountant and Accounting supervisor for a major cable company, where she managed payroll for over 800 employees. Additionally, her experience extends to office management and bookkeeping for various sectors, including real estate development, construction, painting, and automotive repair. With such a comprehensive foundation, she is well-equipped to handle a variety of bookkeeping tasks.

Equipped with extensive knowledge of QuickBooks, she is currently finalizing the last of her certifications in the platform and is putting the finishing touches on her website. With her engagement letter and updated resume in place, she is on the cusp of beginning her client outreach.

It is important to note that she will not be providing tax services, as she is not a CPA or an Enrolled Agent. Instead, her focus will be on serving smaller to mid-sized businesses and startups, offering them a cost-effective, efficient solution. With her ability to clean up disorganized accounts, generate profit and loss statements, maintain balance sheets, and provide valuable cost-saving recommendations almost instinctively, she is well-prepared for this venture. Additionally, she places a strong emphasis on automation, which aligns with the needs of modern businesses.

Initial Outreach to CPA Firms

As part of her client acquisition strategy, she plans to initially connect with local CPA firms to establish referral relationships. In terms of the outreach approach, we are deliberating on the best methods to make a positive impact. Should she opt for email correspondences, phone calls, or perhaps make a direct visit? We appreciate any insights or strategies on how to effectively approach these firms and create a strong first impression.

Seeking Additional Advice and Suggestions

We are also eager to gather further advice on how to attract clients and establish a foothold in the industry. Your input could provide invaluable guidance as she embarks on this exciting venture, and we welcome any recommendations on best practices for client engagement.

Thank you for your assistance as we navigate this new professional landscape!
