My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Transitioning to Freelance Bookkeeping: Seeking Your Insights

Embarking on a new business journey can be both exciting and filled with challenges, and this is the path my wife is eagerly preparing to take. After dedicating 15 to 20 years to various roles in the Accounting and Bookkeeping realm, she is ready to step away from traditional employment and forge her own freelance path.

Her professional background is impressive. With experiences ranging from serving as a staff accountant and supervising payroll for over 800 employees at a cable company, to managing finances for a real estate developer, a construction business, a painting company, and an auto repair shop, she has honed her expertise across diverse industries. This hands-on experience has equipped her with an in-depth understanding of financial management and Bookkeeping.

She is well-versed in QuickBooks and is diligently completing all available certifications from the platform. Additionally, her website is nearing completion, and her engagement letter as well as an updated resume are ready to go. She is on the cusp of launching her freelance bookkeeping services and is eager to connect with potential clients.

It’s important to note that she will not be providing tax services and is not a CPA or an EA. Instead, her focus will be on smaller, mid-sized, and newer businesses, positioning herself as a cost-effective solution for their bookkeeping needs. With her capability to clean up disorganized financial records, generate profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and provide actionable cost-cutting advice, she is well-prepared for this venture. Additionally, she prioritizes automation to streamline Accounting processes.

Our initial strategy involves reaching out to local CPA firms to establish partnerships and collaborations. We seek advice on the most effective approach to connect with these firms. Would a direct email, phone call, or walk-in visit be the best way to introduce her services? Any insights on making a positive first impression would also be immensely helpful.

Furthermore, we are open to any additional recommendations on securing clients or any general advice for someone venturing into freelance bookkeeping for the first time.

Thank you in advance for your support and guidance as my wife embarks on this new chapter in her professional journey.
