Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Venture: Seeking Insights from Industry Experts

My journey into entrepreneurship began with my wife deciding to take a bold step toward independence. After dedicating 15 to 20 years to the Accounting and Bookkeeping sectors, she has amassed a wealth of experience that positions her perfectly for this next chapter. Her roles have varied from overseeing payroll for over 800 employees at a cable company to managing Accounting functions for various industries, including real estate, construction, and automotive.

Currently, she is in the final stages of preparation to launch her freelance Bookkeeping services. Having honed her skills in QuickBooks and completing numerous certifications in the software, her website is nearly ready to go live. Additionally, she has finalized her engagement letter and updated her resume, putting everything in place for a successful marketing campaign.

Importantly, she will focus on serving smaller to mid-sized businesses and startups, offering them a cost-effective solution for their bookkeeping needs. While she will not provide tax services (as she is not a CPA or EA), her proficiency in cleaning up disorganized financial records, generating profit and loss statements, crafting balance sheets, and identifying cost-cutting opportunities ensures she can deliver valuable insights to her clients—all while embracing automation to enhance efficiency.

Our initial approach will be to connect with local CPA firms, and I am seeking advice on the best methods for making initial contact.
