My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

A New Chapter in Freelancing: Seeking Guidance for My Wife’s Bookkeeping Venture

After nearly two decades of dedicated service in the Accounting and Bookkeeping field, my wife is ready to embark on a thrilling new journey as a freelance bookkeeper. Having held various roles, including staff accountant and office manager for diverse industries such as cable services, real estate development, construction, and automotive—she possesses a wealth of knowledge and expertise in this domain.

With extensive experience in QuickBooks and the pursuit of multiple certifications, my wife is on the brink of launching her own Bookkeeping practice. Her website is almost ready, the engagement letter is complete, and her resume has been polished to perfection. Now, she is eager to start marketing her services and attracting her first clients.

It’s important to note that she will not provide tax services, as she is neither a CPA nor an EA. Instead, her focus will be on assisting small to mid-sized businesses, offering them a cost-effective solution to their bookkeeping needs. From cleaning up disorganized financial records to producing profit and loss statements and balance sheets, she is well-equipped to handle the challenges that come her way. Additionally, she aims to leverage automation to enhance efficiency and streamline processes for her clients.

As part of her strategy, she intends to reach out to local CPA firms to explore collaboration opportunities. However, I am curious about the best way to make an impactful first impression when approaching these firms. Would you recommend sending a formal email, making a phone call, or perhaps even visiting in person? Any tips on how to stand out during this initial outreach would be greatly appreciated.

We are also considering billing on an hourly basis, and any further suggestions on acquiring clients or general advice would be invaluable.

Thank you for your insights and support as we navigate this exciting new chapter!
