My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Embarking on a New Adventure: A Journey into Freelance Bookkeeping

I’m excited to share that my wife is on the verge of launching her own freelance Bookkeeping business, and we’re seeking insights from seasoned professionals in the field.

After a fulfilling 15-20 year career working for various companies, she has decided to take the leap into entrepreneurship. Her extensive background includes roles such as staff accountant and supervisor of payroll for a cable company with over 800 employees, as well as office manager/bookkeeper positions in industries ranging from real estate development to construction and automotive services. Her diverse experience has equipped her with a comprehensive skill set that is perfect for her new venture.

Currently, she is finalizing her website and completing several QuickBooks certifications. With her engagement letter and updated resume in place, she is almost ready to begin her marketing efforts to attract clients.

It’s important to note that she will not be offering tax services and is not a CPA or EA. Instead, her focus will be on helping smaller, mid-sized, and emerging businesses by providing cost-effective Bookkeeping solutions. She excels in organizing disordered financial records, preparing profit and loss statements, balancing sheets, and identifying areas for cost reduction—all while prioritizing automation to streamline processes.

To kick off this new chapter, her initial outreach strategy involves connecting with local CPA firms. We would love to get your advice on the best approach to introduce her services. Should she reach out via email, make phone calls, or even visit in person? Additionally, any tips on making a lasting first impression would be greatly appreciated.

We’re also interested in advice regarding client acquisition strategies in general.

Thank you for your support as we embark on this exciting journey together!
