Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Business: Seeking Guidance for a Successful Start
As my wife embarks on an exciting new chapter in her professional journey, she is ready to take the leap into freelance Bookkeeping. After dedicating 15 to 20 years to various roles in Accounting and Bookkeeping, including positions as a staff accountant overseeing payroll for over 800 employees at a cable company, and managing finances for a real estate development firm and other businesses, she brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table.
Her expertise extends to using QuickBooks, and she is currently finalizing her certifications with the platform, enhancing her qualifications even further. With her website nearing completion, a comprehensive engagement letter drafted, and her resume polished, she is on the brink of reaching out to potential clients.
It’s important to note that while she will not provide tax services, she aims to focus on smaller and mid-sized businesses, offering a cost-effective solution for those who need it. Her skills include tidying up disorganized financial records, generating profit and loss statements, creating balance sheets, and recommending ways for businesses to cut costs—all tasks she can accomplish with ease. Furthermore, streamlining operations through automation will be a key priority in her approach.
To kick off her client acquisition strategy, she plans to connect with local CPA firms. We are contemplating the best method for this initial outreach—should it be through email, phone calls, or in-person visits? We would appreciate any advice on how to make a positive first impression during these interactions.
Additionally, we are open to any recommendations on client acquisition strategies or general advice for establishing her freelance bookkeeping practice.
Thank you for your insights as we navigate this new venture!
