Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Business: Seeking Insights from Industry Professionals
As she prepares to embark on her freelancer journey, my wife is transitioning from employee to entrepreneur in the Accounting and Bookkeeping realm. With an impressive background spanning 15 to 20 years, she has honed her skills in various roles, including as a staff accountant and Accounting supervisor managing payroll for over 800 employees at a prominent cable company. Additionally, her experience encompasses positions such as office manager and bookkeeper across diverse sectors, including real estate development, construction, and automotive repair.
Having developed substantial expertise with QuickBooks, she is currently finalizing her certifications with the platform, and her professional website is nearing completion. With an engagement letter ready and her resume updated to reflect her vast experience, she is on the brink of marketing her services to prospective clients.
It’s important to note that while she brings a wealth of knowledge to the table, she will not be offering tax preparation services, nor does she hold CPA or EA credentials. Instead, her focus will be on appealing to small to mid-sized businesses and startups, providing them with an economical Bookkeeping solution. Her strengths include streamlining disorganized financial records, producing profit and loss statements and balance sheets, and identifying areas for cost-saving. Additionally, she prioritizes automation in her processes, a feature that will enhance service efficiency.
Our primary strategy to find her initial clients will involve reaching out to local CPA firms. To make a positive first impression, I’m eager to gather suggestions from seasoned professionals on how to initiate contact effectively. Should we leverage email communication, direct phone calls, or opt for in-person visits?
Moreover, I am open to any additional strategies that can facilitate client acquisition or general guidance related to launching her freelance bookkeeping business.
Thank you for your insights and support!
