Embarking on a Freelance Bookkeeping Journey: Seeking Insights from Industry Experts
After years of dedicated service in the Accounting and Bookkeeping sectors, my wife is poised to take a bold step forward—she’s launching her own freelance Bookkeeping business. Her extensive background spans nearly two decades, during which she has held pivotal roles such as staff accountant and Accounting supervisor for a prominent cable company, office manager for a real estate developer, and bookkeeper for various industries including construction and auto repair.
With her proficiency in QuickBooks and her commitment to completing all relevant certifications, she is meticulously finalizing her website and has crafted a professional engagement letter, along with an updated resume. Excitingly, she is on the verge of marketing her services to potential clients.
It’s important to note that she will not provide tax services and does not hold CPA or EA qualifications. Instead, her focus will be on serving smaller, mid-sized, and emerging businesses, offering an affordable and efficient bookkeeping solution. Her expertise allows her to manage chaotic financial records, generate profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and recommend cost-cutting strategies—all while prioritizing automation to streamline processes.
Our initial strategy is to connect with local CPA firms to explore collaboration and client referrals. However, we are unsure of the best way to initiate these conversations. Should we consider reaching out via email, making phone calls, or even visiting in person? We are eager to hear your thoughts on how to make a strong first impression in these interactions.
In addition to this, we welcome any recommendations on effective client acquisition techniques or general advice that could aid her in this exciting new venture.
Thank you in advance for your insights and support as we embark on this new chapter!
