Navigating the Path to Freelance Bookkeeping: A New Venture
Embarking on a journey as a freelance bookkeeper can be both exhilarating and daunting. My wife, after nearly two decades of dedicated service in the Accounting and Bookkeeping realm, is taking the bold step of establishing her own practice. With extensive experience across various sectors—ranging from managing payroll for over 800 employees at a cable company to serving as an office manager for a real estate developer—she is well-equipped to tackle the challenges of freelancing.
Currently, she is enhancing her skill set by completing various certifications in QuickBooks, which will not only boost her credibility but also improve her service offerings. She is on the brink of launching her business, with a polished website, an engagement letter ready, and her resume updated to reflect her impressive background.
It’s important to note that she will not be providing tax services, as she is neither a CPA nor an EA. Instead, her focus will be on catering to small to mid-sized businesses and emerging entrepreneurs, offering them a cost-effective Bookkeeping solution. With her proficiency in cleaning up disorganized financial records and providing in-depth insights into profit and loss statements and balance sheets, she is confident in her ability to make a significant impact. Automation is a key priority as she aims to streamline processes for her clients.
One of her initial strategies includes partnering with local CPA firms, and we are seeking insights on the best way to approach them. Should she reach out via email, a phone call, or perhaps a face-to-face meeting? Any advice on creating a strong first impression in these meetings would be greatly appreciated.
Additionally, we are considering an hourly billing model for her services and are open to any recommendations or strategies that could help her secure clients in her new venture.
Thank you in advance for your valuable insights! Your experiences and tips could make a world of difference as she embarks on this exciting new chapter.
