Embracing Independence: How My Wife Is Taking the Leap into Freelance Bookkeeping
After years of dedicated service in the Accounting and Bookkeeping field, my wife is ready to spread her wings and embark on a new journey as a freelance bookkeeper. With nearly two decades of extensive experience, she has cultivated a diverse skillset that is set to benefit a range of clients.
Her professional background spans various roles, including a staff accountant and supervisor of payroll for over 800 employees at a major cable company. Additionally, she has served as an office manager and bookkeeper for a real estate developer, a construction firm, a painting company, and an auto repair shop. This broad exposure has equipped her with nuanced understanding and practical expertise in managing financial aspects across different industries.
Currently, she is finalizing her certification with QuickBooks and putting the final touches on her website. With an engagement letter and updated resume already in place, she is on the brink of launching her marketing efforts aimed at attracting clients.
It’s important to note that she won’t be offering tax services as she is neither a CPA nor an EA. Instead, her focus will be on smaller, mid-sized, and emerging businesses, providing them with cost-effective Bookkeeping solutions. She excels in cleaning up disorganized financial records, generating profit and loss statements, balancing accounts, and recommending cost-saving measures with ease. Moreover, she is passionate about automation and is eager to utilize technology to streamline processes for her clients.
As part of her initial strategy, she plans to reach out to local CPA firms, seeking collaboration opportunities. However, we’ve been contemplating the best way to make our introduction. Should we reach out via email, make phone calls, or perhaps visit in person? Any insights on how to create a positive first impression would be immensely valuable.
Additionally, we welcome any advice on securing clients or general tips for establishing a successful freelance Bookkeeping business.
Thank you for your support and insights as she embarks on this exciting new chapter!
