My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Venture: Seeking Insights from Experienced Professionals

As my wife prepares to take the leap into freelance Bookkeeping, she is excited yet curious about how best to navigate this new chapter. After dedicating 15 to 20 years to Accounting and Bookkeeping roles, she is finally ready to embrace the independence that comes with running her own business.

Having held various positions—from Staff Accountant and Accounting Supervisor managing payroll for over 800 employees at a large cable company, to Office Manager and Bookkeeper for a real estate developer and construction firms—she has cultivated a wealth of experience in the finance sector. Her extensive background has provided her with a robust understanding of not just the intricacies of bookkeeping, but also the challenges faced by businesses of all sizes.

Currently, she is honing her skills in QuickBooks, completing as many certifications as possible, and is on the verge of launching her own website. With an engagement letter drafted and her resume polished, she feels ready to start attracting clients.

It’s important to note that while she brings a deep understanding of financial management, she will not be offering tax services as she is neither a CPA nor an EA. Her target market includes small to mid-sized enterprises and emerging businesses looking for cost-effective bookkeeping solutions. With an ability to swiftly manage tasks such as cleaning up disorganized financial records, producing profit and loss statements, and presenting balanced sheets, she stands ready to help clients streamline their financial processes. A keen interest in automation will be a hallmark of her service offering, enabling her clients to operate more efficiently.

Our initial strategy involves reaching out to local CPA firms to establish partnerships. This leads us to our key inquiries: What is the most effective way to introduce her services to these firms? Should we initiate contact via email, a phone call, or perhaps an in-person visit? We are particularly interested in any advice on creating a strong first impression.

In addition, we welcome suggestions on strategies for connecting with potential clients and tips on effective client acquisition.

Thank you for your insights as we embark on this exciting journey!
