My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Venture: Seeking Insights from Industry Experts

Exciting times are on the horizon as my wife prepares to embark on her freelance Bookkeeping journey! After dedicating nearly two decades to the world of Accounting and Bookkeeping, she is ready to leave her traditional job behind and serve clients on her own terms.

Her impressive background spans various roles, including positions as a staff accountant and supervisor of Accounting, where she managed payroll for over 800 employees at a cable company. She has also served as an office manager and bookkeeper for a real estate developer, a construction firm, a painting company, and an auto repair shop. With such a diverse professional background, she is certainly well-equipped for this new chapter.

Currently, she is finalizing her website and attaining the last of her QuickBooks certifications, which will enable her to provide high-quality services to her clients. She has completed her engagement letter and updated her resume, and now she is on the brink of marketing her services to attract new clients.

Importantly, she will not be offering tax services since she is not a CPA or EA. Instead, she aims to focus on smaller, mid-sized, and newer businesses, providing them with a cost-effective bookkeeping solution. With expertise in cleaning up messy books, managing profit and loss statements, compiling balance sheets, and offering cost-saving recommendations, she is poised to help her clients thrive. Additionally, she emphasizes automation to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

Our primary strategy will involve collaborating with local CPA firms, but we are keen to know the best way to make initial contact. Should we reach out via email, make phone calls, or consider a walk-in approach? Moreover, we welcome any advice on how to create a strong first impression and establish lasting relationships with potential clients.

We are also considering billing on an hourly basis and are open to any innovative ideas or strategies that could assist in securing clients and navigating the freelance landscape.

Any insights from seasoned freelance bookkeepers or Accounting professionals would be immensely appreciated. Thank you for your support as we embark on this exciting journey!
