My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Embarking on a New Journey: Seeking Advice for Freelance Bookkeeping Success

As my wife prepares to launch her freelance Bookkeeping career, we’re eager to hear from seasoned professionals in the field. After years of dedication to the Accounting industry, she has made the bold decision to leave conventional employment behind and embrace her entrepreneurial spirit.

With 15 to 20 years of extensive experience under her belt, she has held various roles, including staff accountant and Accounting supervisor, where she managed payroll for over 800 employees at a cable company. Her diverse background also includes serving as an office manager and bookkeeper for a real estate developer, a construction company, a painting business, and an automotive repair shop. This multifaceted expertise equips her with a comprehensive understanding of Bookkeeping across multiple industries.

Currently, she is finalizing her certifications in QuickBooks and is on the verge of completing her professional website. With an updated resume and an engagement letter in place, she is excited to begin reaching out to potential clients.

It’s important to note that her services will not include tax preparation, as she is neither a CPA nor an Enrolled Agent. Instead, she aims to cater to small and mid-sized businesses, as well as startups, providing them with an affordable and efficient bookkeeping solution. Her knack for organizing chaotic financial records, generating profit and loss statements, and balancing sheets, combined with her ability to identify cost-saving opportunities, makes her a valuable asset to any business. Furthermore, she prioritizes automation in her processes to streamline operations.

Our initial marketing strategy involves networking with local CPA firms. I would appreciate any insights on how best to approach these firms. Should she reach out via email, make phone calls, or even visit in person? Additionally, what tips can you offer for making a positive first impression?

We plan to operate on an hourly billing basis but are open to suggestions for attracting clients and general advice for building a successful freelance practice.

Thank you for your assistance as we embark on this exciting new chapter!
