My wife is almost ready to start taking on clients – looking for advice from experienced freelance bookkeepers.

Launching a Freelance Bookkeeping Venture: Seeking Your Expertise

As my wife embarks on an exciting new chapter in her career, she is preparing to establish herself as a freelance bookkeeper. After nearly 20 years of experience in Accounting and Bookkeeping, she has honed her skills in various roles, ranging from a staff accountant and payroll supervisor for a large cable company to an office manager/bookkeeper for businesses in real estate development, construction, and automotive sectors. Her extensive background uniquely positions her to provide valuable services to clients in need.

Currently, she is wrapping up her certifications with QuickBooks and finalizing her website, which will serve as her digital business card. With an engagement letter completed and her resume up to date, she is on the cusp of marketing her services.

It’s important to note that she does not offer tax services and is not a CPA or EA. Instead, she aims to support small to mid-sized businesses and startups as a more cost-effective Bookkeeping solution. Her proficiency in managing financial statements, balancing sheets, and identifying cost-cutting opportunities is impressive, and she prioritizes automation in her methods.

To kick off her client acquisition efforts, her initial strategy revolves around local CPA firms. Here, I’m reaching out to seek advice on the best approach. Should she initiate contact through email, a phone call, or perhaps a personal visit? Additionally, any tips on how to make a strong first impression during these interactions would be greatly appreciated.

We are considering an hourly billing model as she starts to build her client base. Any further suggestions on securing clients or general marketing advice would also be welcome.

Thank you for your support as we navigate this journey!
