Long interview timeline?

Long Interview Process?

Has anyone else experienced an unusually lengthy interview timeline?

I’m currently in the process of interviewing for a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) position. I kicked things off around January 20, and I’m still going through it.

So far, I’ve completed a phone screen, two video interviews, and I’m gearing up for an in-person interview with one team member. There’s also a final round lined up with a higher-level manager.

I’m content in my current job, so I’m not overly anxious about the timeline. However, the extended duration has me questioning the company’s seriousness and structure.

I’ve learned that the team is quite small—only three people for a sizable company—which raises concerns about the potential workload.

Honestly, going through 4-5 interview rounds for a junior position feels excessive to me.

Has anyone else faced a similar situation?

  1. I can definitely relate to your experience with a lengthy interview process. It can be frustrating, especially when you’re already happy with your current job. The extended timeline could indicate a few different things. Sometimes, companies take longer to ensure they find the perfect fit, especially if the team is small and the stakes are high. However, it could also reflect some internal issues or indecisiveness on their part.

Regarding the workload concern, it’s understandable to be cautious if the team is so small within a larger company. It might be worth asking questions during your in-person interview about how they manage workload and team dynamics to get a clearer picture of what to expect.

Having multiple interviews could also be a red flag if it feels excessive, so trust your instincts. If the company is genuinely interested in you, the process will be worth the wait. Just make sure you’re comfortable with their approach and the potential work environment before moving forward. Good luck with the next steps!
