Legacy SAP tools killing our close process — anyone modernize without a full re-implementation?

Title: Navigating Modernization: Streamlining Financial Processes Without a Full SAP Re-Implementation

In today’s fast-paced business environment, financial efficiency is crucial for success. For many companies, including our mid-sized division of a larger Fortune 500 corporation, reliance on outdated technology can significantly hinder performance. Our Accounting team currently operates with a complex amalgamation of a customized SAP system, Excel macros, and legacy Access databases from the early 2000s. This patchwork approach has become a major obstacle, particularly during month-end and quarter-end closes.

While we have sought assistance from various consultants in the past, most proposals have focused solely on large-scale S/4HANA re-implementations. These undertakings, often costing millions and spanning a timeframe of 12 to 18 months, understandably make our leadership team hesitant to commit the necessary resources.

This leads us to our pressing question: Is there a feasible way to modernize our financial processes without completely overhauling our existing system? We are exploring options to enhance our internal finance tools while preserving the framework we already have in place.

We are specifically interested in vendors or teams that can help us achieve a more agile and transparent closing process without resorting to a lengthy and expensive re-implementation. Our goal is to identify solutions that allow us to improve efficiency and visibility in our financial operations within a shorter timespan and without excessive disruption.

If you have experience or insights on effective modernization strategies that do not involve a complete system overhaul, we would love to hear your recommendations. Your expertise could help us pave the way toward a more streamlined and effective financial closing process.
