Exciting News – I Graduated!
I’m thrilled to share that I’ve just completed my bachelor’s degree in Accounting! With the 150 credit hours needed to sit for the CPA exam—thanks to my earlier bachelor’s in psychology—I’m eager to dive into the job market. I’m particularly interested in opportunities with the Big 4 firms. I also bring two and a half years of remote billing experience from my time at a pharmacy. Any insights on my prospects? Thank you!

Congratulations on your graduation! That’s a significant achievement, and it’s great to hear you have the required credit hours for the CPA exam. Your two and a half years of billing experience will definitely be valuable, especially as it demonstrates your understanding of financial processes and attention to detail.
While the Big 4 firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG) are competitive, they often appreciate candidates with diverse backgrounds, including those with psychology degrees. Your unique perspective can be an asset in understanding client needs and team dynamics.
Here are a few tips to improve your chances:
Networking: Reach out to alumni from your school or connections on LinkedIn who work at these firms. Attend career fairs and industry events if possible.
Tailored Resume and Cover Letter: Make sure your application materials highlight your relevant skills, experiences, and why you’re interested in Accounting, especially within the context of your unique background.
Internships: If you haven’t had any internships in Accounting, consider applying for positions that might give you exposure to the field, even if they are not with the Big 4 directly.
Certifications: Ensure you’re ready for the CPA exam, as passing it (or at least being in the process) can make you more attractive to employers.
Soft Skills: Highlight your communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, which are crucial in Accounting roles.
Stay persistent and keep an open mind; your diverse background could be just what a firm is looking for! Best of luck!
