Seeking Job Opportunities in the UK
I recently relocated to the UK after getting married and am on the lookout for job opportunities in London. Unfortunately, the current job market seems quite challenging, and I’m not receiving any responses to my applications. I am currently working towards my ACCA qualification (with 4 papers remaining) and have a few years of experience with a Big 4 firm, as well as some experience with a smaller firm.
I’ve even started applying for junior-level positions, but I haven’t had any luck there either. I would greatly appreciate any connections, recommendations, suggestions for improvement, or tips to help me secure a position as soon as possible. Thank you for your support!

It sounds like you’re in a challenging situation, but there are definitely steps you can take to improve your chances of landing a job in London. Here are some ideas:
Networking: Leverage LinkedIn to connect with professionals in your industry. Join groups related to ACCA, finance, and Accounting in the UK. Attend online webinars and networking events to meet people who can provide insights and potentially refer you to job openings.
Tailor Your CV and Cover Letter: Make sure your CV is tailored for each position you apply for. Highlight your Big 4 experience and any specific skills that are relevant to the job. Your cover letter should demonstrate your enthusiasm for the role and how your experience aligns with the company’s needs.
Reach Out to Recruiters: Connect with recruitment agencies that specialize in finance and Accounting roles. They can help match you with suitable job opportunities and provide advice specific to the UK job market.
Consider Temporary or Part-Time Roles: If you’re open to it, consider taking on temporary or part-time roles to gain local experience and expand your network while you continue your job search.
Enhance Your Skills: Since you are completing your ACCA, make sure to showcase your progress. Additionally, consider learning about software or skills that are currently in demand, like data analysis tools, to make yourself more marketable.
Utilize Job Boards: Beyond traditional job boards, check out specialized websites for finance roles. Sites like eFinancialCareers, and ACCA Careers can have listings specifically for Accounting and finance professionals.
Practice Interviewing: If you’re getting interviews but not offers, seek feedback or do mock interviews to improve your skills. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of improving presentation and communication.
Stay Positive and Persistent: The job market can be tough, especially in a new country, but it’s important to stay positive. Keep applying and networking, and don’t hesitate to ask for help from your connections.
If anyone in this community has specific suggestions or can connect you with someone in the industry, that would be fantastic! Best of luck, and remember that persistence is key!
