Considering a Career Transition from Tech to Finance
Hello everyone,
I’m contemplating a career shift into finance and would love to gain some insights from this community. Currently, I’m working in the tech industry with a focus on cybersecurity—a field I really enjoy. However, finance has always intrigued me, and at 29, I feel it’s not too late to make a change, especially if I can maintain my current salary.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and am currently pursuing a Master’s with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. While I’m not a software engineer by trade, I’m comfortable with scripting—particularly in Python—and can quickly adapt when necessary. Additionally, I have a solid foundation in networking and Linux.
I believe there are many tech roles that intersect with finance, and I’m eager to explore these opportunities. I realize that I still have much to learn about the financial sector, and I’m considering obtaining a second Bachelor’s degree in finance, primarily because I find the subject fascinating and it would be tuition-free for me.
