Internal audit after public accounting

Transitioning from public Accounting to internal audit

I currently have a well-paying job, but I find it unfulfilling. I’m hardly challenged in my role, and I’m so bored that it’s becoming frustrating. While the salary is great, I’m starting to question if this is the right path for me. Is anyone else feeling this sense of disappointment? I’m contemplating whether to continue in this field.

  1. It sounds like you’re in a tough spot. It’s great that the pay is good, but it’s also important to find fulfillment in what you do. Many people in public Accounting have experienced similar feelings of burnout and disillusionment, especially when the work feels repetitive or lacking in challenge. If internal Audit is something you’re considering, it might be worth exploring because it can offer more variety and the chance to make a real impact within an organization.

Have you thought about what aspects of your job you’d like to change? Maybe there are other opportunities within your current firm that could reignite your passion. Alternatively, networking with others in the industry might help you discover positions that align more closely with your interests. Whatever you decide, prioritize your happiness and job satisfaction—it’s definitely worth it!
