I’m so over it

I’m feeling really overwhelmed right now. I was laid off from the IRS a few weeks ago, and the job search has been incredibly disheartening. My perspective on everything has turned bleak. I’m just mindlessly applying to countless jobs, but not getting any interviews. At this point, I feel tempted to embellish my resume just to stand out.

Everything feels so automated and dystopian these days. Just yesterday, I had a call from an AI recruiter who was asking me about my experience like a real person would.

It’s tough to ignore the reality that people are being laid off left and right. There simply aren’t enough jobs for everyone. We’re realizing that many roles in the economy were unnecessary—just layers of management that companies can now cut because profits have taken a hit.

I genuinely believe that within a few years, half of the remaining jobs will also be automated.

To top it all off, it feels like the country is being led by some of the biggest con artists, running commercials for their own companies right outside the White House.

I’m just feeling really down about everything and needed to get it off my chest.

  1. I’m really sorry to hear about your layoff and the tough time you’re facing in your job search. It’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed and frustrated, especially with the job market being so challenging right now. The automation of recruiting and workplaces is a daunting reality, and it can feel so impersonal when you’re just trying to find the next step in your career.

It’s important to remember that you’re not alone in this situation. Many people are facing similar challenges, and it’s valid to feel disheartened. Instead of considering lying on your resume, perhaps focusing on the skills you do have and how you can showcase them might be a more empowering approach. Tailoring your applications for each job, even if it takes longer, could yield better results than spam applying.

Also, it might help to find support from others who are going through the same thing, whether it’s a networking group, online forums, or even friends who have been in similar situations. Sharing experiences and advice can sometimes bring a little light to these dark times.

Stay strong, and don’t hesitate to reach out for help when you need it. There are still opportunities out there, even if they feel elusive right now.
