I’m completing a 2.5-year AAT apprenticeship in London and I’m wondering if this experience qualifies towards the 3 years required for ACCA? Additionally, I know I’ll receive some exam exemptions for ACCA, but can my apprenticeship experience also be counted towards the practical experience needed for ACCA?

Yes, your 2.5 years of experience from your AAT apprenticeship can count towards the 3 years of practical experience required for the ACCA qualification, as long as the work you were doing was relevant to the profession. ACCA recognizes relevant experience gained during your AAT studies, provided that it meets their Practical Experience Requirements (PER).
Make sure to document your experiences and roles clearly, as you’ll need to demonstrate that your work aligns with the competencies outlined by ACCA. It’s also a good idea to consult ACCA’s specific guidelines or speak with a mentor or fellow accountant to ensure you understand all the requirements. Congratulations on nearing the end of your AAT studies, and best of luck with your ACCA journey!
