Title: The Stubborn Echoes of My Big4 Experience: A Laptop Return Saga
It has been nearly ten months since I bid farewell to my position at one of the Big Four firms. However, remnants of that chapter in my career linger in the form of two laptops—one of which is non-functional.
Upon my departure, I completed a survey to inform the company of the equipment I had that needed to be returned. During this process, I specifically requested shipping labels and boxes for the two laptops since I was primarily working from home. The idea of commuting 40 minutes to the office just to drop off their equipment—while also incurring parking fees—was less than appealing.
I was hopeful that the necessary shipping materials would arrive soon, but days turned into weeks, and my anticipation faded as nothing showed up. After some time, I decided to take matters into my own hands and reached out via phone. Unfortunately, my call was rerouted to another office, and while the representative took down my information promising a callback, I was left waiting indefinitely.
Fast forward a few months, and I now find myself in a situation where these laptops are encroaching on my home office space, which I desperately need for my current role. The need to return these items is not only practical but imperative for my work environment.
It’s clear that I should pursue this issue once more by making another phone call. However, I can’t help but feel that returning company property shouldn’t be such a convoluted process. Here’s hoping the next attempt proves to be more fruitful!
