How many hours do you all typically work in a week?
As the title suggests, I’m curious—how many hours do you put in?
I usually work around 40 hours each week as a bookkeeper for a private company. I’m aiming to transition into public Accounting once I complete my degree. What kind of hours should I expect in that field?

It sounds like you’re in a great position with your Bookkeeping experience! In public Accounting, especially during busy seasons (like tax season), you can expect to work significantly more hours. It’s not uncommon for accountants to work 50-70 hours a week during peak periods. However, outside of those busy times, you might find yourself working closer to 40 hours, similar to your current schedule. It’s definitely a demanding field, but it can be very rewarding in terms of career growth and opportunities! Just be prepared for those busy stretches when they come. Good luck with your studies and future career in public Accounting!
