How good do Actuaries get paid? From London??

What’s the earning potential for actuaries in London?

I’m currently applying for undergrad programs and have submitted my applications to LSE, ICL, UCL, Warwick, and City London, as I’m interested in pursuing a career as an actuary. Is it challenging to get into the field? Also, do actuaries typically earn six-figure salaries straight out of university?

I’ve already secured an offer from City, and I’m planning to apply to Bocconi with strong stats for the BEIF program. I want to make sure this is a worthwhile career path because, let’s be real, I love my luxuries! 😭🙏 (17, F)

  1. Actuaries in London can indeed earn very attractive salaries, especially as they gain experience. Starting salaries for graduates in actuarial roles typically range from £30,000 to £45,000. However, it’s not uncommon for entry-level positions in large firms or specialized roles to offer salaries at the higher end of that spectrum.

As for reaching six figures, many actuaries do achieve this level of income within a few years once they start passing their professional exams and gain experience. The path to becoming an actuary involves rigorous studying and passing a series of exams, which can be challenging and time-consuming. It’s a competitive field, but if you’re dedicated and passionate about it, many people find it rewarding both intellectually and financially.

Your choice of universities is solid, and getting into a reputable program will definitely help you make connections and gain opportunities in the field. Plus, Bocconi is a great choice if you’re considering a more international angle to your career.

Overall, if you love numbers, problem-solving, and can handle the academic rigor, becoming an actuary can be a lucrative career path that supports your lifestyle ambitions! Good luck with your applications! 😊
