How fast can you all type? Can you beat a 40 to 50 wpm typing test, with 85% accuracy?

The Typing Challenge: How Fast Can You Really Type?

Typing is an essential skill in today’s job market, and many of us are often challenged to prove our abilities through typing tests. Recently, I encountered quite a setback during my job applications due to typing performance, and I wondered, how does everyone else measure up?

During my recent job search, I faced two typing assessments that greatly impacted my candidacy. Despite making it through the initial interview stages, I scored only 38 words per minute (wpm) on one test. On another occasion, I experienced a technical glitch that resulted in an almost comical score of just 2 wpm!

In my everyday tasks—like composing emails or drafting reports—I typically type more than 40 wpm with ease. However, I find myself struggling when tasked with typing from obscure, challenging texts. The old literature can lack the fluidity and clarity I’m used to, making it difficult to maintain my usual pace while ensuring accuracy.

It makes me curious about the typing abilities of others. How does your typing speed compare? Can you consistently achieve 40 to 50 wpm while maintaining a high level of accuracy? I’d love to hear your experiences and tips on improving typing skills under different circumstances. Let’s discuss and see where we all stand in this typing challenge!
