Having surgery on ankle, how many days off should I have ( Probation period ) ?

I’m scheduled for ankle surgery and I’m wondering how many days off I should take during my probation period. I’ll likely be in a cast for about a month. Since I’ll need to visit client sites, do you think two weeks off is too much?

  1. When considering surgery recovery, especially for an ankle, it’s essential to account for not just the physical recovery but also the potential limitations in mobility and the need for follow-up appointments. Generally, for ankle surgery with a cast, two weeks might feel short, especially if your job requires you to be on your feet or travel to client sites.

Many people might need around 4-6 weeks before feeling comfortable returning to active duties, depending on the nature of the surgery and personal recovery pace. Given that you’ll be in a cast for about a month, it might be wise to plan for at least 3-4 weeks off, if possible, to allow for proper healing and to avoid any strain that could set back your recovery.

Consider discussing your situation with your healthcare provider, who can give you personalized advice based on your specific surgery and recovery process. Additionally, check with your employer about your probation period policies and see if they might accommodate your recovery needs during this time.
