Reminder: Guidelines on Duplicate Posts
Hi everyone! I wanted to send out a quick reminder regarding the numerous threads that have been popping up recently, especially posts like Edit: Update “08/10/22” “Got fired – varying perspectives” ~~”02/27/22″ “Is this good for an accountant?” “04/16/20” “Waffle/Pancake” “10/26/19” “Kool Aid Swag” “When the auditor”~~. Over the past 24 hours, I had to remove quite a few of these, as they started overcrowding the front page of /r/Accounting.
Last year, based on your feedback, the mod team introduced a guideline to address this issue. We’ve found that this approach helps keep a diverse range of content on the front page while still allowing community members to vote on what they want to see prioritized.
We encourage you to share follow-up messages, jokes, or derivative content in the comments of the original thread. For instance, if someone shares an image and you create a similar one, it’s best to post yours as a comment there. If your version involves much more effort, is distinctly different, or there’s a significant time gap between posts, it may be acceptable to create a separate post. However, as a general rule, please keep derivative content within the comments.
Coming together over relatable jokes or crafting our own inside humor is what makes this community special. Nonetheless, it can be disheartening when a flood of similar content overshadows the variety that makes this subreddit vibrant.
We aim for all types of content to be represented on the front page—whether they’re lighthearted jokes or serious discussions—while ensuring no single type overwhelms it simply due to ease of duplication. Thank you for helping us maintain the quality and diversity of our subreddit!

Thank you for the reminder! It’s essential for us to maintain a diverse and engaging front page, and I appreciate the mod team for working to ensure that. I completely understand how easily similar posts can clutter the feed, and I agree that keeping related content in the comments can foster a more immersive community experience. Let’s all do our part to keep the subreddit lively and varied! Looking forward to seeing some creative contributions as we stick to the guidelines. Keep up the great work, everyone!
