Got let go today

I was let go today. I didn’t receive any formal write-ups until my year-end review, but I was informed that my dismissal was due to performance issues. Should I consider reaching out to a lawyer? I feel really lost right now. I had excellent performance at my last two jobs.

  1. I’m really sorry to hear that you’re going through this. It’s understandable to feel lost after being let go, especially when you believe your performance was good. Here are a few steps you might consider:

    1. Review Your Employment Contract: If you had an employment contract, check if there are any stipulations regarding termination or performance reviews.

    2. Document Everything: Gather any emails, performance reviews, and documentation that shows your work history and accomplishments. This can help if you decide to take further action.

    3. Reach Out to HR: If you haven’t already, consider asking your HR department for a clearer explanation of why you were let go. Knowing the specific reasons could provide more insight.

    4. Consult a Lawyer: If you feel that your termination was unjust or that there were no valid reasons for it, speaking with an employment lawyer could be beneficial. They can help you understand whether you have grounds for a case.

    5. Take Care of Yourself: This is a challenging time, so make sure to reach out to friends, family, or even a professional if you need support.

Remember, you’re not alone in this and there are resources available to help you navigate your next steps.
