Fund House job -> Is this possible?

Is a Job at a Fund House Possible?

I recently heard from a relative who claims to have landed a job at a fund house after completing a three-month internship. They’re saying the internship pays ₹55,000, with a monthly salary of ₹2 lakhs post-internship. However, they don’t have any prior finance experience.

I’m curious—are jobs like this feasible? They mentioned successfully passing an interview for the fund house, with only two candidates being selected.

I can’t shake the feeling that there may be some exaggeration here, especially since they’ve recently asked me for financial assistance. They’ve also left Delhi for Mumbai, claiming to be working at the fund house, which raises my suspicions.

I might be overthinking things since I’m not in this field, but I want to dig a little deeper. The child’s father is someone I’m close to, and I feel it’s important to alert him if there’s any cause for concern.

  1. It’s understandable to be concerned for your relative and want to get to the bottom of this situation. While it’s possible for someone to land a job in a fund house without prior finance experience, the compensation you’re mentioning seems quite high, especially for an entry-level role following a three-month internship.

In the finance sector, roles typically require some level of relevant education or experience, particularly for high-paying positions. The figures you’re provided (55k during the internship and 2L thereafter) are significantly above what is generally offered for entry-level positions in this industry.

It would be wise to approach the relative in a non-confrontational way, perhaps asking more about the role and the company. Getting details about the job responsibilities, team structure, and even asking for documentation related to employment could provide more clarity. If you maintain a supportive tone, they may feel more comfortable being honest about their situation.

If you still feel something is off after this conversation, it might be worth having a chat with their parents to express your concerns. Your intuition about them potentially being in trouble could be worth exploring further, especially if they’ve been asking for money. It’s essential to support your loved ones, particularly if they’re going through a difficult situation, but be sure to gather more information first.
