Financial planners – do you ever find yourself manually tracking things you wish were automated?

Attention financial planners! Do you often find yourself manually tracking tasks that you’d prefer to automate? I’m currently exploring some personal projects and would love to hear about the aspects of your work that still depend on spreadsheets, sticky notes, or an overwhelming number of browser tabs. Whether it’s client onboarding, reporting, or anything else, what manual processes do you find particularly frustrating?

And yes, I’m excluding eMoney data entry from that list! 🙂

  1. Absolutely, many financial planners still find themselves caught up in manual tasks despite the advancements in technology. Here are a few areas where I see a lot of room for automation:

    1. Client Onboarding: The process often involves multiple forms, information gathering, and tracking down documents. Automating this with a client portal could streamline the process significantly.

    2. Reporting: While we’ve seen a shift toward automated reporting tools, there’s still a lot of manual data entry involved, especially for customized reports. Automating data integration from various sources would be a game-changer.

    3. Follow-Ups and Timely Reminders: Tracking client check-ins and follow-ups often ends up on sticky notes or reminders in various apps. An automated system that reminds both the planner and the client would keep communication seamless.

    4. Task Management: Keeping track of tasks across different clients and projects can be daunting. A centralized task management tool that integrates with other systems could increase efficiency.

    5. Performance Tracking: Many planners still manually calculate and track client portfolio performance instead of having an automated system that pulls in data and provides real-time insights.

    6. Document Management: Organizing, storing, and retrieving client documentation is often done through folders, making it less efficient. An automated document management system where everything is searchable could save a lot of time.

It would be great to see more tools developed that can integrate seamlessly with existing systems to handle these manual processes!
