Feeling like I failed S&T Recruiting – advice

Navigating the Challenges of S&T Recruiting: Seeking Guidance

As I reflect on my journey in the world of finance, I find myself grappling with feelings of disappointment regarding my recent experiences in Sales and Trading (S&T) recruiting. Starting this year as a sophomore majoring in quantitative finance at a non-target university, I was enthusiastic about securing a summer internship in model risk management. The excitement was palpable as I dove into networking, reaching out to countless professionals, scheduling informative calls, and securing referrals. This effort culminated in two final round interviews at Bank of America for S&T roles and another at Blackstone for a position in portfolio management.

However, despite my extensive efforts, I find myself in a waiting game, with no feedback from these interviews. As I monitor the market, it appears that S&T opportunities for Summer 2026 are becoming increasingly scarce. This realization has left me feeling unsettled and questioning my approach.

With many of my peers successfully landing offers for summer 2026, I can’t help but wonder if I could have put in more effort. I am now contemplating whether I should shift my focus toward full-time openings in S&T by the time I graduate. Is there still a chance for me to secure a position in 2026, or has that ship sailed? My initial dream of working at a bulge bracket firm seems more elusive by the day.

In light of this uncertainty, I am reaching out for advice and insights. How can I enhance my prospects in this competitive field, and what steps should I consider moving forward? Any advice from fellow finance enthusiasts or seasoned professionals would be greatly appreciated as I navigate this challenging terrain.
