Feeling Overwhelmed with AFM Studies
Hi everyone,
I’ve just begun my AFM studies, and I’m feeling really drained. There’s just so much information to absorb, and I find it hard to concentrate. I know that staying consistent is important, but I can’t quite pinpoint why I’m feeling this exhausted this time.
I work in Audit, but my job isn’t the issue—I’m studying in the mornings, sometimes evenings, and on weekends. In past exams, I felt more energetic, but now it feels like I’m starting from scratch.
Has anyone else experienced this when reaching the Professional Level? How do you cope with mental fatigue and maintain focus? I’d really appreciate any advice!

Hey there,
I totally get where you’re coming from—studying for the Professional Level can be incredibly overwhelming, and it’s completely normal to feel drained during this process. It sounds like you’re doing a lot of the right things by being consistent with your study schedule, but it’s important to acknowledge that your mental energy can indeed fluctuate, especially with the heightened complexity of the material.
Here are a few tips that might help as you navigate this challenging time:
Break It Down: Try breaking your study material into smaller, manageable chunks. This can make the content feel less daunting and help you to focus better.
Set Specific Goals: Instead of just studying for a certain amount of time, set specific daily or weekly goals. This can provide a sense of accomplishment and help you stay motivated.
Incorporate Breaks: Don’t forget to schedule regular breaks! Taking short breaks can actually enhance your focus and retention of information.
Mix Up Your Study Methods: If it’s possible, vary your study techniques by incorporating different resources like videos, practice tests, and study groups. This variety can make studying more engaging and less monotonous.
Focus on Your Wellbeing: Make sure you’re taking care of your physical and mental health during this time. Staying active, eating well, and ensuring you have downtime can significantly impact your energy levels.
Reach Out for Support: Don’t hesitate to connect with classmates or colleagues who are also studying for AFM. Sharing experiences and discussing difficult concepts can relieve some of the pressure.
Reflect on Progress: Sometimes, it helps to reflect on how far you’ve come rather than just how much is left to do. Acknowledging your progress can fuel motivation.
Remember, it’s okay to feel drained—many people do at this level. Be kind to yourself, and don’t hesitate to reach out for support when needed! You’ve got this!
Best of luck with your studies!
