Seeking Advice on Time Management for Future Success
Hello everyone,
I’ve just finished my 11th-grade Commerce final exams, and I’m estimating my average marks. I’m part of the HSC Board in Maharashtra, which some people consider less prestigious, so I’ve decided to take proactive steps. I’ve downloaded the CBSE B.K. PDF for 12th grade to study during my upcoming one-month vacation, and I plan to start preparing for the CA Foundation exam as well.
I’ve seen many peers struggle with the CA exam and I want to avoid that disappointment. My goal is to successfully complete the CA Foundation, Intermediate, and Final levels on my first attempt, ideally without taking coaching classes due to financial constraints. I believe I have enough time to manage multiple tasks effectively and am eager to make the most of it without feeling regret later.
Main Questions:
- Should I focus on grasping the 12th CBSE B.K. material and then start preparing with ICAI resources, or can I go straight to the ICAI notes?
- How can I fully utilize this time?
- Should I revisit the 11th-grade CBSE material as well?
I’m not interested in socializing or playing games, so I’m determined to make the best use of my time.
My subjects in 11th and 12th are: Hindi, English, Bookkeeping, Secretarial Practice (I’m not sure about my decision to skip Maths; was that a mistake?), Economics, and Organization of Commerce.
Thank you, and I hope you all have a great day!

It’s great to see your proactive approach towards your studies and future goals! Here are some suggestions to help you utilize your time effectively during your 11th-grade vacation and prepare for your CA Foundation:
Strengthen Your 11th Foundation: Since you’re already planning to grasp the 12th CBSE B.K., it might be a good idea to briefly review your 11th-grade subjects, especially Bookkeeping and Economics. Understanding these concepts well will serve as a solid foundation as you move forward.
Focus on CBSE 12th B.K.: Since you’re aiming for CA, having a strong understanding of Accounting principles is crucial. Dive into the 12th CBSE B.K. syllabus and ensure you grasp all the concepts. If you find any areas of confusion, don’t hesitate to reach out for additional resources or explanations.
Start CA Foundation Prep: You can begin studying for the CA Foundation exam with the ICAI materials once you have a good grasp of the 12th B.K. concepts. Directly referencing ICAI notes after familiarizing yourself with the syllabus will make it easier to tackle the exam content.
Create a Study Plan: Break down your study sessions into manageable goals. Allocate specific hours for 12th B.K. content, CA Foundation subjects, and revision. Consistency is key, so find a study schedule that works for you.
Practice Regularly: Along with theoretical knowledge, practice as many problems and case studies as you can. This is especially important in Accounting and Economics where application of concepts is necessary.
Consider Online Resources: Make use of free online resources, videos, and forums that cater to CA aspirants. Engaging with a community can provide additional support and motivation.
Maintain a Balance: Even if you don’t enjoy games or excessive socializing, make sure to take regular breaks and incorporate some leisure activities to recharge. This can enhance your productivity when you return to studying.
Seek Guidance: If possible, find a mentor or someone who has gone through the CA process without coaching. Their insights can provide valuable advice and strategies.
Monitor Your Progress: Keep track of what you’ve completed and what areas may need more focus. This will help you stay on course and adjust your study plan if necessary.
Stay Positive and Patient: The journey to CA is long and challenging, but with dedication and effective time management, you can succeed. Stay focused on your goals, and don’t hesitate to seek help when needed.
Remember, every step you take now will contribute to your future success. Best of luck, and enjoy your learning journey!
