Coworkers ask me why I don’t have a car, and my response is “to be eco-friendly”. Real answer: to save as much money as possible so I can buy my freedom via launching my own firm and ensure being forever remote. None of this hybrid nonsense.

Embracing Freedom: My Journey Towards Remote Work and Entrepreneurship

In today’s world, it’s not uncommon for coworkers to ask me why I live without a car. My usual response centers around my commitment to eco-friendliness. However, the candid truth is a bit more personal: I’m focused on saving every penny I can to eventually achieve my dream of launching my own business and securing a fully remote lifestyle—no more of this hybrid work model.

Pursuing my CPA designation has been a transformative experience. It’s taught me the immense power of taking initiative in my career. Rather than adhering to the traditional paths and trying to force outcomes that may not suit my goals, I’ve learned that the results are often more favorable when I actively steer my own course. The joy I feel when applying for positions that specify “CPA required” or “CPA preferred” is indescribable. I no longer have to justify my qualifications; my CPA license speaks for itself.

Moreover, I’m experiencing a shift in mindset regarding employment and value delivery. Instead of attempting to persuade potential employers of my ability to thrive in a remote environment, I’ve begun to appreciate the benefits of bypassing the middleman entirely. Employers often act as intermediaries, but now, I see the potential in providing my services directly to clients from the comfort of my home office.

This journey has reinforced my belief that true freedom in work comes from harnessing your skills and doing what you love on your own terms. As I continue on this path, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead—both as a professional and as an individual seeking to carve out a fulfilling, independent career.
