Coworkers ask me why I don’t have a car, and my response is “to be eco-friendly”. Real answer: to save as much money as possible so I can buy my freedom via launching my own firm and ensure being forever remote. None of this hybrid nonsense.

Embracing Freedom: The Journey to a Remote Career

In today’s fast-paced world, the decision to forego a car might raise eyebrows among colleagues. When asked about my choice, I often respond with a commitment to environmental sustainability. However, the deeper truth lies in my desire to maximize savings, enabling me to pursue my entrepreneurial dreams. My ultimate goal is to establish my own firm and fully embrace the remote work lifestyle—there’s no interest in a hybrid model for me.

Through my journey to becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), I’ve discovered the value of taking charge of my career path. I’ve learned that proactive steps toward professional growth yield far more positive results than attempting to manipulate outcomes to fit my desires. The sense of empowerment that comes from applying for roles labeled “CPA required” or “CPA preferred” is invigorating. Unlike before, there’s no need to justify my qualifications—my CPA credential speaks for itself.

This newfound autonomy is liberating. Instead of persuading employers of my capabilities as a remote worker, I can bypass traditional employment structures altogether. This approach allows me to provide value directly to my clients from the comfort of my home office. The possibilities are endless when you control your own narrative and embrace the freedom to work on your own terms.
