When colleagues inquire about my lack of a car, I often respond with an intention to be environmentally conscious. However, the deeper truth lies in my quest for financial freedom. My ultimate goal is to launch my own business and embrace a fully remote lifestyle—steering clear of any hybrid arrangements.

As I pursue my CPA designation, I have come to understand the importance of taking charge of my career. Rather than attempting to manipulate situations to produce desired results, I’ve learned that proactive efforts yield far more favorable outcomes. The thrill of applying for positions labeled “CPA required” or “CPA preferred” is invigorating. I no longer feel the need to justify my capabilities, as my credentials speak for themselves.

What’s more, the workplace dynamics are shifting. Instead of persuading employers of my effectiveness as a remote worker, I can streamline the process. By cutting out the middleman—an employer—and directly connecting with clients, I can provide value from the comfort of my home. This approach not only satisfies my career aspirations but also enhances my overall quality of life.
