Coworkers ask me why I don’t have a car, and my response is “to be eco-friendly”. Real answer: to save as much money as possible so I can buy my freedom via launching my own firm and ensure being forever remote. None of this hybrid nonsense.

Embracing Remote Work: My Journey to Professional Independence

In today’s world, many of my coworkers often ask about my decision to not own a car. When I explain that it’s part of my commitment to a greener lifestyle, I’m often met with nods of approval. However, the deeper truth behind my choice is rooted in financial strategy. By foregoing a car, I’m saving money with a goal in mind: to attain the freedom that comes with launching my own business and ensuring my ability to work remotely, without the constraints of hybrid models.

Becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) has been a pivotal moment in my professional journey. It has taught me that by actively steering my career instead of passively waiting for opportunities to arise, I can achieve far more desirable outcomes. For instance, applying for positions that require or prefer a CPA designation brings a newfound confidence. I no longer feel the need to convince employers of my worth; my qualifications speak for themselves.

With my CPA credential in hand, securing positions that fit my skills becomes less about selling myself and more about showcasing what I bring to the table. This shift has been liberating. Instead of having to justify my capability in a remote setting to potential employers, I can bypass traditional employment barriers altogether. My goal is to connect directly with clients, providing them value from the comfort of my home.

By taking charge of my professional path, I’m not only aligning with my values of sustainability and independence but also creating a career that offers the flexibility and freedom I desire. This journey is about more than just working remotely; it’s about redefining success on my own terms.

In a world where conventional career paths often dictate how we operate, I choose to break free from the norm. My mission is clear: to build a business that allows me to thrive while contributing positively to the environment—and I couldn’t be more excited about this adventure ahead.
