Coworkers ask me why I don’t have a car, and my response is “to be eco-friendly”. Real answer: to save as much money as possible so I can buy my freedom via launching my own firm and ensure being forever remote. None of this hybrid nonsense.

Embracing Freedom: My Journey to Remote Work and Entrepreneurship

In today’s world, the conversation around transportation often leads to discussions about sustainability. When colleagues inquire why I’ve opted not to own a car, I typically respond with a commitment to eco-friendliness. However, the truth runs deeper—my decision stems from a desire to save money, enabling me to pursue true freedom by launching my own business and embracing a fully remote lifestyle, leaving behind the constraints of hybrid work.

As I navigate my path to becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), I’ve come to appreciate the profound impact of taking control of my career trajectory. By actively engaging in my professional development, I’ve found that the results tend to favor those who seize their destiny rather than merely waiting for opportunities to come to them. It’s immensely gratifying to apply for positions labeled “CPA required” or “CPA preferred” without the anxiety of justifying my qualifications. The designation speaks for itself—I am a CPA.

Additionally, one of the most freeing aspects of my career journey has been the ability to bypass traditional employment structures that often undervalue remote work. Rather than attempting to persuade employers of my capabilities in a remote setting, I can eliminate the middleman entirely. This allows me to connect directly with my clients, providing them with my expertise from the comfort of my own home.

This journey not only aligns with my values but also positions me to maximize my potential and deliver value in today’s evolving workforce. By prioritizing my independence, I am crafting a professional life that is both fulfilling and sustainable. Here’s to embracing the future—one where we thrive on our own terms.
