Subject: Can I Claim ACCA Exemptions with Just Two GCSEs? (UK-Based)
Hi everyone,
I hope you can help me out. I’m having trouble posting this on r/ACCA since my submissions keep getting removed. I recently graduated with a first-class degree in Accounting and finance, but I’m still looking for a training contract. I’m thinking about applying for ACCA exemptions and taking the final four exams independently.
However, I’ve just learned that ACCA requires three GCSEs, including Maths and English, and I only have two. I moved to the UK later than most and was only able to complete those GCSEs during college. I also completed an Access to HE course, which is equivalent to A-Levels, before starting university.
Do you think ACCA will grant me exemptions based on my degree, or will the missing GCSEs be a barrier?
I appreciate any insights or advice you might have! Thanks!

Hi there!
Congratulations on completing your degree with first-class honors! That’s a significant achievement. Regarding your question about ACCA exemptions, you should be able to claim them based on your degree regardless of your GCSEs. ACCA typically recognizes degrees in Accounting and finance, and your Access to HE course may also help demonstrate your academic abilities.
It’s important to reach out directly to ACCA or check their official website for specifics on their exemption policy, especially in light of your unique educational background. They may have provisions for individuals who have faced similar circumstances. Additionally, if your degree is recognized by ACCA, they might not strictly enforce the GCSE requirement for exemption purposes.
Best of luck with your ACCA journey!
