I am currently working in the middle office operations role at a bulge bracket bank, and I have to admit that I find it incredibly dull. I struggle to see how anyone could find this line of work interesting enough to stay in it for their entire career.

What really bothers me is the fact that people in roles like mine are often paid more than nurses, teachers, and other professionals who contribute significantly to society. It just doesn’t seem fair.

I once read that the key to finding the right job is identifying the problems you want to solve. However, reconciling trades just doesn’t seem like a top priority for most people.
