Anyone else NOT depressed?

Is anyone else feeling pretty content right now? I’ve worked hard in public-facing roles for a few years, and now I’ve landed a hybrid six-figure job. It really puts things into perspective when I think about the alternative: working physically demanding jobs in trades, or earning a lower salary in another country.

Sure, I work more hours than the average person, but the pay is great and the flexibility of remote work is a huge plus. Meanwhile, I see tradespeople getting up at 5 a.m. and putting in 8 to 12 hours of tough labor, often making less than many of us do, contrary to common belief.

I’m curious about your thoughts on this. Is Accounting really that bad, or are we just a bit spoiled? I’m sure I’ll get downvoted for this, but I just wanted to share a different perspective.

  1. It’s great to hear you’re feeling content and finding joy in your career! It’s true that many people in trades work incredibly hard and often don’t get the pay they deserve, which definitely puts things into perspective.

Your success in a hybrid role sounds rewarding, and it’s a reminder that different paths can lead to fulfillment. While Accounting and similar jobs may have their challenges, they can also offer stability and balance that aren’t always found in physically demanding roles.

It’s not about being spoiled; it’s more about recognizing the different opportunities and choices available to us. Everyone has their own measure of success and satisfaction, and it sounds like you’ve found yours! Thanks for sharing your perspective—it’s a refreshing take in a world where many focus on the negatives!
