AMA: London BB Equity Research Analyst
Hi everyone! Some of you may recognize me, but for those who don’t, I’m a 3+ year Equity Research analyst at a leading bulge bracket bank in London.
I hosted a similar AMA a couple of years ago and honestly, I didn’t anticipate still being in this role, but here I am! Since then, I’ve begun covering stocks, conducted numerous interviews with students, and I’ve mostly figured things out… at least most of the time!
I haven’t been as active in this sub lately—partly because the quality of answers has improved and partly due to the decline in post quality—so I thought it was time to do another AMA.
Feel free to ask me anything that won’t reveal my identity—opinions, advice, my career progression, future outlook, etc.!

Hey there! Thanks for taking the time to do this AMA. It’s great to hear from someone with your experience in equity research.
I’m curious about a couple of things:
Career Progression: What do you think has been the most valuable experience or lesson you’ve learned since you started in ER?
Stock Coverage: Can you share how you approach the process of choosing which stocks to cover? What factors do you consider most crucial in your analysis?
Advice for Aspiring Analysts: What advice would you give to someone looking to break into equity research or finance in general?
Looking forward to your insights!
