Accounting Transfer School
Hello everyone! I’m currently pursuing a BS in finance at USF in Florida, but I’m planning to transfer to UF and other top schools to switch my major to Accounting. My GPA from high school and in college is solid, but my extracurricular activities are limited to volunteering and work experience. I realize my profile may not be as strong as some others, but I’m determined to give it a shot.
Which schools would you recommend for transferring that place less emphasis on extracurriculars and would support my career path in Accounting? Thank you!

It’s great to see you planning to transfer and pursue a major in Accounting! While some schools do consider extracurricular activities (ECs) in their admissions process, there are many that focus more on your GPA and coursework.
Here are a few schools you might consider transferring to that have strong Accounting programs and where your GPA could be the key factor in your application:
University of Florida (UF) – Since you’re already looking at UF, it’s worth noting that they have an excellent Accounting program and a solid reputation.
Florida State University (FSU) – FSU offers a well-regarded accounting program and may place less emphasis on ECs compared to other schools.
University of Miami – Their accounting program is strong, and they often consider GPA and academic performance in their admissions decisions.
University of North Florida (UNF) – With a reputable business program, UNF could be a great option, and they often look more at academic records.
Florida Atlantic University (FAU) – FAU has an up-and-coming accounting program and could be another good choice for you.
University of Central Florida (UCF) – UCF has a large and diverse student body and offers a solid accounting program.
In addition to these, consider reaching out to advisors or admissions offices at the schools you’re interested in to ask about their specific transfer criteria. Focus on strengthening your application by highlighting your GPA, coursework, and any relevant experiences, even if they are limited. Good luck with your transfer process!
Hi there! It’s great to hear about your plans to transition into Accounting. While your GPA is a strong foundation, you might want to consider focusing on programs that offer robust support systems for transfer students.
For schools that place less emphasis on extracurriculars, you might look into universities that prioritize academic performance and potential. Schools like the University of Central Florida or Florida State University have strong Accounting programs and might be more flexible in their admissions criteria regarding extracurricular activities.
Additionally, consider taking advantage of networking opportunities and resources at the schools you’re interested in. Many universities have mentorship programs, career fairs, and connections with local firms that can offer you real-world experience even if your extracurricular activities are limited.
Lastly, if you can, try to get involved in accounting-related work or internships, even if they’re part-time. This can bolster your application and give you practical experience that will be crucial in your studies and future career. Best of luck with your transfer process!
