Accounting Internship

Accounting Internship Inquiry

I’m nearing the completion of my associate degree in business this May and will be starting my bachelor’s degree in the fall. As I begin my search for internships, I’ve also come across job listings for Bookkeeping and junior accountant positions. With my current educational background, do you think it’s feasible to apply for these entry-level jobs? I have 5 years of experience in banking, but I’m uncertain how relevant that will be. Insights would be greatly appreciated!

  1. It’s great to hear that you’re nearing the completion of your associate’s degree and are planning to continue your education! With your background in banking, you likely have valuable skills that can translate well to roles like Bookkeeping or junior accountant positions.

While some employers may prefer candidates with a degree or specific coursework in Accounting for these roles, your five years of banking experience can be a strong asset. It demonstrates your familiarity with financial processes and your ability to work in a professional setting. In your search for internships or entry-level positions, consider emphasizing your relevant skills gained from banking, such as financial analysis, customer service, and attention to detail.

Don’t hesitate to apply for both internships and entry-level jobs, as either could provide essential experience in the Accounting field. Networking with professionals in the industry and attending career fairs can also help you discover opportunities and make valuable connections. Best of luck in your search!
