Exploring Accounting Opportunities

I’m curious about potential Accounting positions that offer salaries between $75k and $85k for someone without a degree in Accounting. I’m transitioning from a career in athletic training and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Science as well as a Master’s in Leadership. I’ve recently taken on a role as a Revenue Specialist. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  1. Hi there! Transitioning into Accounting with your background in science and leadership is a great move, especially with your experience as a revenue specialist. While many Accounting positions typically require a degree in Accounting or finance, there are definitely roles where you could potentially earn $75k to $85k without one, especially if you leverage your skills in revenue management and leadership.

Here are a few positions you might consider:

    1. Bookkeeper or Accounting Clerk: With experience and proven efficiency, you can move up quickly. Some companies pay well for strong bookkeepers who excel in financial reporting.

    2. Tax Preparer or Consultant: If you gain experience during tax season, you can earn good money, especially if you take on consulting for small businesses. Certifications like the IRS Annual Filing Season Program can boost your credentials.

    3. Financial Analyst: Some entry-level positions may not require an accounting degree, especially if you have analytical experience and strong Excel skills.

    4. Controller or Accounting Manager: With your master’s degree and leadership experience, you might qualify for higher-level positions that sometimes value experience over formal education.

    5. Sales or Revenue Operations: Companies often pay well for revenue operations roles, especially if you can demonstrate how your background in athletic training and current role can contribute to business growth.

Networking, getting relevant certifications (like CPA or CMA), and highlighting your transferable skills will greatly assist in your job search. Good luck with your career transition!
