Struggling with Self-Doubt

Hello everyone,

I’m about 1.5 years into my first job after college, and I’ve been grappling with feelings of self-doubt lately. I often notice that many of my colleagues are getting recognition and praise for their contributions in our chats, while I feel overlooked. This has contributed to a sense of disconnection from my team.

Have any of you experienced something similar? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

  1. Hey there,

I really appreciate you sharing what you’re going through. It’s completely normal to feel this way, especially when you’re in a new role and trying to find your place within a team. It can be tough to see others getting recognition while you feel like you’re on the sidelines.

First off, remember that everyone’s journey is different, and recognition can come in many forms. Your contributions might not always be visible to others, but that doesn’t diminish their value. Consider reaching out to your teammates or manager to discuss your work and seek feedback. This could help you understand how your efforts are perceived and give you a chance to highlight your contributions.

Also, try to celebrate your own achievements, no matter how small. Keeping a record of your accomplishments may help shift your focus from what others are receiving to acknowledging your own growth and progress.

Connecting with your team outside of work-related discussions can also help strengthen those relationships and make you feel more included.

You are not alone in feeling this way, and many people experience self-doubt in their careers. Remember that it’s okay to ask for support and share your feelings. You deserve recognition for your hard work, and reaching out for feedback and connection may help you feel more valued.

    Take care!
